The Hollywood theme for reading month inspired this book-turned-movie door for our classroom. This, in turn, inspired last week's art lesson. We watched a video of Jeff Kinney, author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, as he drew his main character, Greg Hefley. Click here to watch the video. I read this book aloud to the class earlier this year, so they were excited to learn more. We warmed up by drawing along with Mr. Kinney. Next, we studied some more of his illustrations and used those to draw our own cartoon self-portrait. Students added a drawing of a book they've read this year to complete our project. They are so cute and VERY true to life! Do you recognise anyone in these pictures?
